There are a number of foods that aid in the lowering of blood sugar levels. Cinnamon is a very good one. Also watching the type of sugars that are in the foods that you eat are good to watch as different types affect blood sugar differently. For example foods higher in protein do not spike your blood sugar like a cup of juice or a piece of fruit would. Also balancing your meals helps alot. Even for snacking like eating an apple with a piece of cheese will help prolong the absorption and allowing your body more time to process the same amount of carbohydrates. These are jsut a few tips that I use when controlling my blood sugar. Hope this helps and if you have any questions feel free to post and I will do my best to answer them.

Since I was diagnosed in 2009 I have had the same problems, I did not understand carbs and came soon to realize that they were in everything you ate as you stated. In my frusteration I lived on soup from the restaurant across the street, not a great way to fill yourself up. The bonus was dropping about 60 pounds in weight, downside I was starving lol. I have had to switch medications, and nothing seems to make to much difference when I check my blood sugar its usually high, seeing a 4-7 would make my day. Here where I live doctors are not the greatest either I have been bounced around 3 doctors, an intern, and finally a family doctor who I am not thrilled with, he has not even hard of the medication I am currently on, not a thrilling prospect. I truly wish you luck, and I hope you know that your are not alone in this, millions struggle with this everyday!!

I have been there countless times!. All I can tell you is that your stuggle is complicated. I was diagnosed in late October 2001. I started out great on nothing but diet and oral meds. I had really good control until I decided to try to get pregnant. Unfortunately the meds can not be taken by women who want to get or who are pregnant. So I switched to insulin injections. I never experienced such craziness before! I gained about 60 pounds within the first 3 months and my blood sugars made no sense to me whatsoever. Turns out they made no sense to the half dozen doctors and specialists I proceded to turn to for help. I exercised and ate great and still had trouble. I ate junk and did nothing and had great numbers! Since the birth of my child I have been trying to work back to straight oral medication. I was always much more stable and had fewer problems but it always seems just out of reach. Keep up the fight, If you are one of the lucky ones, you may be able to see a patern in the way things are happening and therefore make the necessary changes to increase stability and normalcy in your bloodsugar levels.

You have also given me motivation & inspiration! Once I get home this evening, I am puting the Dog on the leash (It's not my Dog, I'm just sitting for a week) and I am going to go for a long walk. It's time to start taking better care of myself and also lead by example for my beautiful Son and other Family members. Thank you for all you have done for this great cause and I also want to say that you are a fantastic "Blogger"... I look forward to reading your other articles.
